The Latest Electric Off-Road Motorcycles for 2025
Which of these electric dirt bikes would you ride?
Electric Vs petrol is always a controversial topic with quite often a 50/50 divide. Either way though, electric motorcycles are increasing in popularity and when we visited the annual trade shows at EICMA in Milan, Italy and Intermot in Cologne, Germany, there were plenty on display. Below we feature pictures and details of the various electric dirt bikes that we came across at the shows. This year we noticed the biggest offering yet of electric off road and road motorcycles.
Stark VARG
The Stark VARG and it means "strong wolf" in Swedish. It can probably be seen as the flagship electric mx bike, as it is already available to buy, unlike Honda's CR Electric Proto mx bike. The Stark VARG has been designed to "beat gasoline competitors in every single way". There is no servicing of air filters and no oil changes and the manufacturer says there is no more servicing needed than by the average mountain bike! Some of the Stark VARG features include: There are two power options available to buy of 60hp and 80hp, it weighs 110kg, battery charge time is 1-2 hours, everything is adjustable from power, to engine braking, flywheel effect and traction so it can be ridden like a 125cc two stroke and up to a 650cc four stroke! The Stark VARG comes with KYB suspension, Brembo brake components, a chassis made from carbon fibre, magnesium and aero grade aluminium which is small and light, plus rider weight is specified when purchasing so the suspension is tuned to the individual upon delivery! With a choice of 3 colours: Red, White and Grey and with no emissions, no noise and low maintenance, it may prove to be a popular choice. There are 2 versions: the off-road and supermoto. The off-road version features a 5kW and 305NW torque motor giving about 14hp and has 3 speed modes to choose from: Tortoise, Rabbit and Rocket which are all shown on its LCD display. How can I upgrade my Electric Motorcycle?
At AS3 Performance we already stock aftermarket parts for the Stark Varg and Sur-Ron Light Bee X, as well as the KTM, Husqvarna and Gas Gas electric junior bikes. We are keeping an eye on what electric motorcycles are being released so will look to develop more parts for those accordingly. If you do ride an electric bike, what aftermarket parts would you like to see AS3 Performance stock? Feel free to email us or DM us through our social media channels with suggestions.
Can you ride an electric bike in MXGP?
The short answer is no, electric bikes cannot compete in the MXGP in any of the current classes. However, in 2026, the MXEP will make its debut which will be an electric motocross bike class as a support class to the current FIM World Motocross Championship. This will be similar to the MotoE class in MotoGP which has been running for a few seasons now.
Do any electric bikes compete in Enduro?
Currently, the only electric bike competing in Enduro that we know of is the Stark Varg, raced by Eddie Karlsson in the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship. Click here for a video of Eddie setting his holeshot device before a practice start. Karlsson has just grabbed 5th overall in the 2025 Championship and we look forward to seeing if he will be competing in any upcoming Hard Enduro events on the Stark.
