Yamaha YZ 250 'Merica' Bike Build
Complete rebuild of a YZ 250 with an American theme
One of our customers in Canada, Derick Griecken has recently completed his Yamaha YZ 250 "Merica" bike build. The bike has been completely transformed with a mixture of red, white and blue parts and some custom USA graphics! Below, we have details and pictures of the AS3 Performance parts used in the build, as well as some video links to the parts being installed.
Rear Brake Pedal
Derick has fitted our rear brake pedal in a combo with the gear lever. He chose to go with red anodised tips over blue. These red details go nicely with the red of the American flag on the decals. Our rear brake pedals and gear levers are cold forged, meaning they are less susceptible to snapping upon any unfortunate impacts, compared to the OEM levers, the latter being more brittle.
Oil Filler Plug
A blue anodised oil filler plug has been fitted. Our oil filler plugs are CNC machined from 6061 aluminium making them stronger and perform better under high heat and pressure than the standard plastic plugs. They also provide a big visual upgrade, as can be seen on Derick's YZ 250 Merica (in the top of the picture below). Our oil filler plugs are also supplied with pre-drilled holes, allowing customers to use locking wire as they wish. Click here to see Derick fitting our oil filler plug.

Silicone Radiator Hoses
Our blue silicone radiator hoses were used on Derick's build. We also offer them in Black for the 1996-2001 YZ 250. Derick chose to go for blue to match the blue in the American flag, as well as the other blue parts on the build. Not just about looks, our hoses are much more robust than the standard rubber radiator hoses that come on the bike. Being made from high quality silicone and reinforced with polyester, they are less susceptible to punctures or damage.
Chain Guide
To match the rear brake pedal and gear lever tips, Derick has chosen to fit our red anodised, aluminium chain guide. They are CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminium and we stock them additionally in blue and black for a number of Yamaha models. These chain guides very robust and don't buckle nor bend easily like OEM chain guides tend to do.
