AS3 Performance Weekly Round Up #4
We Spend The Weekend In Belgium For The MXGP
MXGP of Flanders, Lommel
This weekend we headed to Belgium for round 13 of the FIM World Motocross Championship with the some of the best motocross riders in the world, competing on the renowned Lommel sand track. If the deep sand and rough, technical track wasn't enough, the riders also had to compete with very mixed weather causing dry as well as wet sand conditions. Over the weekend, we were treated to 4 race classes - EMXOpen, EMX125, MX2 and MXGP.
The 2023 MXGP of Flanders, Lommel, drew big crowds for the racing on both Saturday and Sunday
EMXOpen & EMX125 Classes
In each class, race 1 was on the Saturday and race 2 on the Sunday. On the Saturday, the track was dry which was in complete contrast to the Sunday, when the track was completely soaked at the time these classes raced.
In the EMXOpen class, the Tech32 KTM of French rider Pierre Goupillon won the overall, going 3-1 with 2 holeshots to his name. In the EMX125 class, MJC Yamaha Official's Latvian rider Janis Reisulis won the overall for the 2nd round in a row, extending his Championship lead. It was good to witness the skill of the 15 year old Latvian on the tricky track.

MX2 Class
The qualifying race was on the Saturday with Race 1 & 2 on the Sunday. Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team's Belgian sensation Jaago Geerts was outstanding, completely dominating all 3 races and showing the other riders a sand-riding masterclass, much to the delight of the home fans! Geerts went 1-1-1, taking 60 points out of 60 and severely denting Andrea Adamo's Championship lead - the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider only managing 7th overall after having a torrid time in Race 2. Rounding off the podium was another Belgian rider - Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing's Lucas Coenen who took 2nd overall with the final step taken by Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing's German rider, Simon Längenfelder.

MXGP Class
Kawasaki Racing Team's French rider Romain Febvre took the overall, going 1-2 on the Sunday, despite being in 25th position in Race 2! To see him come through the field to get 2nd in race 2 was astonishing on a track like Lommel. It was clear he was by far the fastest rider out there. This gave the Frenchman his 4th overall win in a row! Championship leader Jorge Prado on his Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing machine got better as the races went on, managing to go 3-1 after only getting 5th in Qualifying. Even though he didn't have the best weekend by his standards, he added a lot of points to his healthy Championship lead. Rounding off the top 3 was Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team's Dutch rider Glenn Coldenhoff, who has found some great form recently. He was cheered on by a big contingent of Dutch fans in the crowd too.

Another new addition to our protection parts range is the skid plate for the Gas Gas ES 700.
