2024 Motocross of Nations Team Bikes

A Close Up Look At The MXoN Team's & Race Bikes

On the weekend of the 5th-6th October 2024 we were at Matterley Basin in Winchester, UK for the 2024 Motocross of Nations. We had paddock access all weekend so while we were there we had a chance to get up close to most of the team's race bikes. In this article we feature a selection of the bikes we captured in the paddock from full factory bikes to satellite teams. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get a shot of every team bike, as some paddock tents, like Team Australia, kept their bikes out of the public eye.

Team France: Maxime Renaux's Yamaha YZ 450 F

Below is the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory YZ 450 F mx bike, raced by Team France's Maxime Renaux in the Open Class of the 2024 MXoN. He rode with the #3 red plate as Team France were the 2023 MXoN winners on home soil in Ernée. They had the same team in 2024 as in 2023 with Romain Febvre running the #1 plate on his Kawasaki Racing KX 450 F and Tom Vialle running the #2 plate on his Red Bull KTM 250 SX-F. Renaux rode well, with a 4-9 in the Open class for 2nd overall. However, the French team didn't fair so well at Matterely Basin, coming 5th overall in 2024 with 50 points. Click here for a video of Romain Febvre's KX 450 F being warmed up in the paddock.

Team Italy took 3rd overall at the 2023 MXoN with Forato on that team too, as well as Red Bull KTM's Andrea Adamo plus Monster Energy Yamaha's Andrea Bonacorsi. The same team competed at this year's event with Adamo running the #8 plate and Bonacorsi the #9. They went 8th overall in 2024, with Forato going 9-7 for 6th overall in the MXGP class. Team Germany: Ken Roczen's Suzuki RMZ 450

Below we have a picture of the #10 HEP Team Suzuki RMZ 450, ridden by Ken Roczen for Team Germany at the 2024 MXoN. Roczen competed on this bike throughout the 2024 SX, MX and SMX season over in America. Despite Team Germany coming 4th overall at the 2023 MXoN, Roczen won the 2023 MXGP Class overall in Ernée. With Red Bull GasGas's #11 Simon Längenfelder competing in the MX2 class and KMP Honda Team's Max Nagl #12 competing in the Open class - the latter racing his 17th MXoN! - Team Germany came away with 6th overall this year, with a total of 62 points. The best placed German was Längenfelder on his MC 250 F with a P3 in class. Click here for a video of Ken Roczen heading through the paddock to the track.

Here we have the #17 hostettler Yamaha Racing YZ 250 F, raced by Arnaud Tonus in the MX2 class of this year's MXoN. Tonus made his Motocross of Nations debut in 2007 and this was his 11th MXoN for Team Switzerland! With the same team as in 2023 who placed 6th overall, this year the Swiss placed 9th. The team consisted of Kawasaki Racing's #16 Jeremy Seewer competing in the MXGP class and Honda's #18 Valentin Guillod competing in the Open class. Jeremy Seewer got the best results for the team going 7-6 in his races. For a video of Seewer leaving the paddock with his mechanic on his KX 450 F, click here.

Team Spain: Jorge Prado's GasGas MC 450 F

Below we have 2024 MXGP FIM World Champion Jorge Prado's #19 Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing MC 450 F race bike. Prado was competing in the MXGP class, alongside #20 KTM's Oriol Oliver (MX2 class) and #21 Honda HRC's Ruben Fernendez (Open class). After Team Spain's 7th place overall in 2023, they just missed the podium in 2024 taking 4th place overall with 45 points. The best result came from Ruben Fernandez with a P2 behind Jett Lawrence in Race 2 Open class and MX2 class. Click here for a video of Jorge Prado leaving the paddock on his GasGas MC 450 F.

Team USA: Aaron Plessinger's KTM 450 SX-F

Here we have the #24 Red Bull KTM of Team USA's Aaron Plessinger, who was competing in the 2024 MXoN Open class. Plessinger was the only rider on the team who competed in 2023 and this year Team USA also brought in two of the best riders in the World - Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing's Eli Tomac and Cooper Webb! Tomac competed on the #22 Yamaha YZ 450 F in the MXGP class with Webb competing on the #23 YZ 250 F in the MX2 class. Compared to 2023 where Team USA finished 8th overall, they really brought the heat at Matterley Basin, going into the final race leading the overall and in the end settling for P2 with 29 points, only 3 points shy of Team Australia who won. Click here for a video of Eli Tomac leading at the start of Race 3 MXoN 2024.

Team Great Britain: Tommy Searle's Kawasaki KX 450 F

Below we have a picture of Tommy Searle's #28 Dirt Store Kawasaki KX 450 F, which he competed on in the 2024 Motocross of Nations MXGP class. Searle was taking part in his 13th MXoN and made up the Team GB team alongside MX2 class #29 Max Anstie (Yamaha) and Open class #30 Conrad Mewse (Honda). In 2023 Team GB came 10th overall, but only came 12th in 2024. Unfortunately, after running up front in his first race, Anstie crashed out, giving him na automatic P40 and he could not start the 2nd race, so the team had to take the 40 points. Mewse got the best result of P6 for the team in Race 2. Click here for a video of Conrad Mewse getting ready for his race.

In the 2023 Motocross of Nations, South Africa cam 13th overall. This year, they only managed 18th overall. Team Brazil: Bernardo Eto Tibúrcio's Honda CRF 250 R

Below we have a picture of the #47 Honda CRF 250 R, raced by Bernardo Eto Tibúcio in the MX2 class at the 2024 Motocross of Nations. As you'll probably agree, the Brazilian colours taking over the red of the Honda are really catchy! With teammates Enzo Lopes (MXGP class) and Fabio Santos (Open Class), both on Yamaha YZ 450 F's, Team Brazil came 13th overall in 2024 which was their best ever result! Click here to see a video of the first lap of Race 2, where Santos is in around 14th place.

Team Netherlands: Glenn Coldenhoff's Fantic XXF 450

The last MXoN race bike we feature is the #54 Fantic XXF 450 ridden by Glenn Coldenhoff in the Open Class of the 2024 Motocross of Nations. This was the first time Fantic has featured in an MXoN as 2024 was the first season for the brand in the FIM World Championship. Team Netherlands were desperate to improve on their 18th overall in the 2023 MXoN and they duly delivered. With the #52 of Jeffrey "The Bullet" Herlings competing in the MXGP class on his KTM 450 SX-F, plus #53 Kay de Wolf - recently crowned MX2 World Champion - competing in the MX2 class on his Husqvarna FC 250, the Dutch landed on the podium placing 3rd overall! Kay de Wolf was quick amongst the 450's, taking 6th place in Race 1, just behind Herlings in 5th. De Wolf also grabbed 5th in Race 2, quite a few places ahead of Coldenhoff. Click here for a video of Kay de Wolf leading Jeffrey Herlings in race 1 MXoN 2024.
