AS3 Performance Weekly Round Up #9
AS3 Sponsored Rider Jonny Walker Competes In TKO Hard Enduro Event In USA
Walker races Hard Enduro over the pond
Jonny Walker made the long trip over to the USA and then onto Canada to take part in the Red Bull Tennessee Knockout (TKO) Extreme Enduro event, followed by the Red Bull Outliers event in the Alberta Badlands a week later, the latter being one of the rounds in the 2023 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship calendar. This season, Walker is not competing in the Hard Enduro Championship as he has chosen to concentrate on the indoor SuperEnduro FIM and AMA Championships. Jonny is a very popular rider in the USA and Canada and since his strong 4th placed finish at Erzberg earlier on in the season, there was a lot of anticipation to see how he would fare at both events.
Red Bull TKO - August 18th-20th 2023
After the Amateur riders started the event on Friday 18th, the Pro Riders got going on Saturday afternoon. This started with a Hot-Lap on a roughly 2 mile short course, whittling the field down to the 16 fastest riders who then competed on a Straight Rhythm Prologue. Our Beta man Jonny Walker finished the day in 4th behind the KTM riders Manuel Lettenbichler & Trystan Hart who placed 2nd & 3rd respectively and the Husqvarna man Billy Bolt, who won the day.

56 riders started Sunday's main event with 3 rounds of racing. The first round saw each rider take on an 11 mile hard enduro Long Course and this was a Knockout format where 31 of the fastest riders over the course made it through to the 2nd round. FMF KTM rider Hart recorded the quickest time with Walker 9th quickest.
The second round format placed the 31 riders into 5 groups who then raced head to head over the same Long Course but with an extra mile of extreme enduro difficulty added! The groups consisted of 6 riders in 4 groups and 7 riders in 1 group - the top 4 riders to finish in each group then went through to the third and last round - a 20 rider main event where the winner of each group in the second round got a front row starting position.

The third round started with a front row of Hart, Lettenbichler, Walker, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Ryder LeBlond & FactoryONE Sherco rider, Cody Webb. This final round moved back to the Short Course for a 35 minute plus 1 lap race. It was very much cat and mouse from the get go between Lettenbichler, Hart, Bolt & Walker. Were it not for a fall down the Red Bull Ravine Hill Climb for German rider Lettenbichler whilst leading, which dropped him back to 6th, he may have pulled away for the win. Instead, it was Canada's Trystan Hart who pulled a gap, the KTM man winning the race by 24 seconds. Behind him, Lettenbichler caught back up to Britain's Bolt in 2nd, with Walker on his wheel too. The latter three riders started the final lap only separated by 10 seconds! Bolt held on for 2nd place with Lettenbichler rounding off the podium in 3rd. It was another strong 4th place for our man Jonny Walker on his Beta 300 RR, agonisingly close to a podium spot. Rounding out the top 5 was Sherco's Cody Webb.

In our next Weekly Round Up we will report how Jonny got on at the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship Round - Red Bull Outliers, which took place in the Alberta Badlands, Canada.
Our Motocross Supported Riders Update
Junior Motocross auto class rider Ollie Hain has finished his first season racing with a very impressive 4th overall in the Grampian Motocross Championship! The final 2 rounds were held at Elgin and track conditions were slippery. Over 2 days of racing on his GasGas MC 50, he grabbed himself 3 hole shots and went 4-5-3 on the Saturday, then 4-4-5 on the Sunday for 4th overall on both days. Ollie has come on leaps and bounds in his first season, growing in confidence week in week out and we look forward to seeing how he gets on next year in his second season. Well done Ollie from all of us at AS3!
