AS3 Performance Weekly Round Up #40
2024 MXGP of Trentino (Italy)
Round 4 - Pietramurata - 13th-14th April
Our Supported MXGP Team JWR Honda Racing, were in Italy at the weekend, at one of the most iconic motocross venues in the World - the Crossodromo "Il Cilclomino" motocross track - with the striking mountainous terrain of the Dolomites as a backdrop. Compared to last week's sand track in Riola Sardo, Sardegna, this hard pack track proved a bit more challenging for team rider Alvin Östlund on his CRF 450 R. You can check out a video of Östlund's JWR Honda Racing Team Bike here.

MXGP Timed Practice & RAM Qualifying Race - Saturday 13th April
Östlund struggled a bit in Timed Practice, recording the 18th fastest time. However, in the RAM Qualifying Race, after a bad start, the Honda man managed to work his way up through the field, coming home P15. Only the top 10 are awarded points in the Qualifying Race but nonetheless, Alvin's P15 showed he had the pace to get some good points in Sunday's main event races, as points are on offer for the top 20.
MXGP Race 1 - Sunday 14th April
There was a heatwave over the whole weekend, making an already challenging track even more challenging for the riders. Östlund, as in Qualifying, got a bad start in Race 1 and expended a lot of energy trying to move through a field of 40 riders. He come home in P18 on his CRF 450 R.
MXGP Race 2 - Sunday 14th April
In Race 2, it was unfortunately the same situation with Östlund's start. He would admit from his own high standards that it was not good enough and again, he had to pick his way through the pack. He managed P17 in Race 2, giving him P17 overall and a precious 7 points for the Championship. Östlund and the JWR Honda Racing Team left Trentino with a lot of lessons to work on from the weekend but are in good spirits for the next MXGP round in Spain in a couple of weeks time. Well done to the whole team!
2024 FIM EnduroGP World Championship
Round 2 - Portugal - 13th - 14th April
Our Supported EnduroGP Team Fast Eddy Racing, competed for the second weekend in a row in Portugal, this time in Valpaços, for Round 2 of the EnduroGP Championship. The Team riders were confident coming off the back of a successful weekend at Round 1 and with familiar special tests and good weather we had a head start going into the weekend.
Fast Eddy Racing - Jamie McCanney - Husqvarna FE 250
E1 Class rider Jamie McCanney carried his speed from Fafe into Round 2 and added to his growing tally of podiums! Both days saw Jamie land himself in 3rd position on the box in the E1 Class and 6th / 5th overall on Saturday / Sunday respectively in Enduro GP! A fantastic result for Jamie and the team, congrats!
Fast Eddy Racing - Mikael Persson - Husqvarna FE 350
The E2 Class rider also started the weekend strong. Some great speed and test times saw Miki in 3rd position in class arriving at the final cross test of the day on Day 1! Unfortunately, an incident without crashing saw him tear his Achilles tendon. Even after managing to finish the test and bring it home in 3rd position to get his first podium of the season, Miki was unable to start Day 2 and has returned home for surgery in Sweden. We all wish Miki a fast recovery and hopefully we will see him return in full health for the final rounds of the season!
Fast Eddy Racing - Harry Edmonson - Beta 250 RR
The EJ1 (Junior) Class Rider again gained in confidence over the 2 days racing. Rounding out Day 1 in 5th position for the third time this season, he pushed hard to improve test times and Sunday saw Harry climb the ladder in the results. He crashed in the final cross test, but had luckily built a comfortable enough gap on 5th position, to end Day 2 with P4 in EJ1. Congrats to Harry!
Other Supported Rider News
Our Junior Enduro Rider Jay Codling competed in two events at the weekend. On Saturday 13th April, he raced the 2024 Edge Off Road MOD National Sprint Series on his Beta 125 RR. The track consisted of fields, woodland and river beds and was predominantly dry, apart from a bit tacky in the woods, which made for fast riding. Jay had a good pace but admittedly made some silly mistakes and ended up 7th in the Youth A class, 68th overall. Well done to Jay!
On the Sunday, Jay raced Round 2 of 2024 Edge Off Road National Cross Country Series. Track conditions were similar to Saturday and mostly a mixture of sand and gravel. Jay had a great start on his Beta 125 RR. Whilst sitting in 3rd, Jay had some trouble on a hill climb and then had a big off, having to sit out for a while as he hit his head quite hard. He still managed to remount and finish however, coming home P11 in the Youth A Class. Well done again to Jay!
Our Supported Junior Motocross Rider Arthur King competed at Culham with Cotswold MX Club at the weekend. Track conditions were "perfect", with long ruts and many different lines. Arthur came 2nd in all 5 races on his KTM 85 SX. A great weekend's racing for Arthur since he has stepped up from last year's 65cc Class. Congrats to Arthur!
Another one of our Supported Junior Motocross Rider's - Ollie Hain - competed at Round 2 of the 2024 Scottish MX Champs at Clayshant in the Auto Class at the weekend. On a very soft and boggy track, Ollie qualified P7 on his GasGas MC 50 and then went P8, P4 and P8 for a solid P6 overall. With a stacked gate of 15 riders, Ollie was unlucky in Races 1 & 3, going down on the soft track and unfortunately struggled to get up and get going again quickly, therefore lost a few places he would have otherwise kept. His Race 2 result of P4 shows he has the pace to be up there and we look forward to seeing him put these good results together this season. Well done to Ollie on a good result nonetheless.
